TEAMS:
Argentina
Led
by super striker captain Gabriel Batistuta, veteran defender
Roberto Sensini, and midfield wizard Juan Sebastian Veron,
Argentina reached the quarterfinals of the 1998 World Cup,
only defeated by a fantastic Denis Bergkamp goal for Holland.
Having won the World Cup on two previous occasions in 1978
and 1986, Argentina will be amongst the favourites to win
the next World Cup in Japan/South Korea. It is unlikely though
that the key players currently in the squad will still be
around to compete in the tournament. With all their experienced
and talented stars, Argentina will be hoping his team can
finally do justice to their talents, and with World Cup 2002
possibly being the last chance for Roma's legendary Argentinean
strike Gabriel Batistuta, they are a nation who will be keen
to claim a third World Cup success thus placing them back
at the top of the international football ladder.
