Manchester United to sign Chinese Football Star >>
[BACK TO NEWS HEADLINES]

Manchester United look set to finally seal a deal for the young Chinese superstar Dong Fangzhuo, the cream of an illustrious crop of Asian players previously on trial at numerous English clubs in August 2003.

18 year old Fangzhuo, a striker, has been targeted by United since November, when Sir Alex Ferguson publicly announced the club were in the hunt for a player from Asia, and Fangzhuo appears to match the criteria. The player will become the clubs first Asian import despite interest from Spanish champions Real Madrid and Italian giants Inter Milan.
