The Background
Richard Spencer is a full time house-husband, looking
after his one year old daughter Jemima. "In January I
had a brainwave of an idea for a footballing anthem; no
doubt propelled by Man City's runaway successes and prolific
goal scoring. Over the subsequent evenings, and snatches
of time when Jemima was asleep I began work on creating
the song."
In a matter of days it had transformed itself, albeit
crudely, into a song for England's World Cup 2002 campaign.
Six weeks later, following much sweating and late nights,
together with the assistance of some friends who could
sing, Richard had recorded and produced what can only
be described as the anthem for all international competitions
to come.
Richard
will be donating proceeds from sales of the song to Sport
Relief. A truly generous offer given that the song is
already proving to be a winner!
The Result
The song is called "New World Cup", the artist
is Dexter.
Listen to it and buy it at www.newworldcup.co.uk.
Dexter's New World Cup is an uplifting pop-rendition of
warm and hearty themes which not only provides England
supporters with a rousing, spine-tingling singalong anthem,
but also tells the story of England's recent progress
in the World Cup.
The song is a forward looking uplifting and memorable
anthem for 2002 and beyond. It does not hang onto history
by falling back on the past dreams of 1966.
