Monaco were founded in 1924, turning professional
after the second world war. They have tasted success
in every decade since their formation.
With 7 league titles and five French Cups under
their belt, Monaco are one of France's most successful
and popular club teams.
The club have found European success difficult
to come by. Their best achievement reaching came
when they reached the 1992 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup
final, but were beaten 2-0 by SV Werder Bremen
of Germany.
Although they have constantly been seen as force
at home, but have failed to build on their expectation
since winning the league in the 1999-00 season.
